Red orange

The red or blood orange (Sanguinelli) is a variety of orange with dark red flesh. It can be enjoyed from December to May. The distinctive reddish color of its meat is due to the presence of anthocyanins, a family of pigments with antioxidant properties. The degree of its coloration depends mainly on the temperature changes between day and night.

The Sanguinelli orange is used to prepare a rich fruit juice and for table-service. It can also be used to decorate dishes, drinks and salads.


Orange juice strengthens the immune system as it is a natural disinfectant in addition to protecting the body from cardiovascular disease. It is rich in Potassium, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, vitamins A and C.
